You are better clean and sober, please believe me.

I know so many people believe they're better with drugs or alcohol but honey it's not true. You give up your personality for a veil of substances, and you can only have happiness when you are being YOURSELF 100% clean and sober. Attention, positive or negative, is not love. Find people who love you and let them take care of you until your body is free. Get yourself back. I bet a lot of people miss you. I started drinking when I was 12 and it took me until I was 18 to realize I was a fake and really truly losing myself. It hurts and it's hard but it's so worth it in the end.

I am a recovering acddit and I currently work as a Chemical Dependency Counselor in Washington State. I spent over 30 years of my acddited to anything I could get my hands on. As a counselor I work in the local jails interviewing new clients and also I conduct assessments for treatment placement. For over 3 1/2 years I have interviewed hundreds of clients and over 90% have started using before 18. It’s time that this issue is brought to our schools and not after the fact. My wish is to do so but there’s no option to do this where I live!? I am more that willing to offer my services .

I thought that I could sing like Pavarotti, and dance like Fred Astaire———NOT !
I learned in a hurry that I could not fight like John Wayne or Bruce Lee. But I could tell dirty jokes for two hours without repeating myself. I am definitely NOT proud of that. If one of those jokes comes to mind now, I try very hard to think about something else because I do not want to remember them. Oh yes, I was also a master at self-pity; the whole poor me thing.
But that was a loooong time ago. Life is better now, because this old man is better.

The problem of alcohol and drug addiction is one of the top controversial issues in American society and is often a source of conflict between generations and between sections of society. It is a fact, alcohol and drug use is an accepted norm in many societies. The other accepts what one group sees as risky behavior as normal. However, it is proven that alcohol and other drugs are powerful substance with potential harm to users or tempt them into over indulgence. In the United States, drug and alcohol abuse is high among high school dropouts with nearly one is seven students dropping out of high school as per the study undertaken by The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA)
