My name Is Debbie Perkins and I was in active addiction since the age of six.  I was molested from a family friend and he would give me alcohol.  My dad was very abusive and when I would use it would make everything around me seem ok.  Both of my parents committed suicide, my little brother died of lung cancer at a very young age and my ex-boyfriend came over and tried to kill me and killed himself in front of me.  I have had a lot of pain in my life and I just stayed high through it all.  I have been to prison three times and arrested over 20 times due to my addiction.  I have been sober for over four years but it took a lot of work through a 12 step program to get where I am today.  I now own a Transition house for women, I will graduate next semester with my Bachelors, Phi Theta Kappa, Deans list and Presidents list. I am a Nationally Certified Interventionist and a Certified Life Coach.

I am telling you all this because I saw on TV a commercial about Recovery and I would like to put my story out there and try and help kids realize the reality of drugs and alcohol.  I have 13 mug shots that tell a story all by itself without saying a word.  I became a Life coach to help parents what to do and not to do if their children are in active addiction or in the process of recovery.  I am highly qualified and very successful to help getting people into rehab because I have been where they are at in their addiction. I work with several rehabs that model what it took for me to get and stay sober.  I even stay as involved as long as they want me to in their recovery. I had to learn how to forgive the person who molested me because I could not live with that kind of anger.  I am no longer a victim I am now a survivor and my passion in life is to help kids in early addiction not go as far as I did in addiction.  I used for over 35 years with nothing but pain and I am now at peace within myself.
