Breaking through

I've spent the last ten years addicted to either pain killers or benzodiazepines. Several months ago I decided it was time to live a clean life. So I quit...all pain killers and benzodiazepines.  I won't lie, it wasn't easy. I had to hide myself from these drugs. I had to let go of friends that are users and I had to tolerate those who wanted to stop my success. A few months later, I stepped out of the darkness and welcomed sobriety into my life. As hard as it was, it was a good decision. My life is so much better now.
